EQUINE
SPORTS MASSAGE DIPLOMA
|
The purpose of this course is to teach touch and bodywork techniques which can enhance the health and well being of animals.
Regular massage treatments can lead to stress reduction and performance enhancement.
This course consists of three levels which must be completed within 2 years of commencement. The course is both practical and theory based (110 hours theory + 160 hours practical).
LEVEL
I EQUINE SPORTS MASSAGE CERTIFICATE
3 day course (& home study)
Foundation level course ensuring knowledge and understanding of the
Law, horse handling skills, gait analysis, conformation,basic anatomy
and physiology. There is a strong practical element emphasising the correct
application of Swedish massage techniques, contra indications to massage,
the consultation process, record keeping, health and safety risk assessment.
This course includes modules for home study and practical case studies.
LEVEL
II EQUINE SPORTS MASSAGE CERTIFICATE
3 day course (& home study)
Intermediate level course demonstrating a broader range of competences,
knowledge and understanding, extending previously learnt techniques. The
course includes identifying Swedish pre and post event massage techniques,
active and passive stretching exercises, stress point and trigger point
location and treatment. Further anatomy and physiology, gait analysis,
treatment of injuries. We also include lectures from a master saddler
and registered farrier. There are some modules for home study and practical
case studies.

III EQUINE SPORTS MASSAGE DIPLOMA
3 day course (& home study)
Advanced level diploma course.
Learners are encouraged to develop
autonomous, analytical and critical abilities to progress to becoming an independent
equine sports massage therapist working closely with veterinarians. Content
includes; treating specific conditions, awareness of veterinary diagnostic
techniques used in assessing lameness, equine dentistry, hydrotherapy spa
treatment and setting up and running a business. Home study modules, practical
case studies and final practical assessment and Equine Sports Massage Diploma
Exam. 2 days. a three hour written exam paper and a separate practical assessment.

III EQUINE SPORTS MASSAGE
EXAM
2 day course (Practical & theory exams)
This includes full revision session on day 1, looking at past exam papers and practical revision. Day 2 Exams both theory and practical - a three hour written exam paper and a separate practical assesment.
ENTRANCE CRITERIA
- Students must be over 18 years of age
- Equine students should hold the BHS stage 2 Certificate, Horse Owners Certificate, Pony Club B or have at least three years experience in the horse industry - preferably at a professional yard or at competition level. (Evidence of the above will be required in written form)
- Students under 21 years should hold 4 GCSE passes (one in English) or provide proof of an equivalent educational standard.

CANINE
MASSAGE DIPLOMA
|
The purpose of this course is to teach touch and bodywork techniques which will enhance both the mind and the body of canines thus providing a more relaxed animal with improved muscle tone, enhanced coat condition and a strengthened animal/owner bond.
The course is both practical and theory based (100 hours theory + 140 hours practical)
Well behaved dogs can encourage their owners to bring them along to practise upon in class!
LEVEL
I CANINE MASSAGE CERTIFICATE
3 Day Intensive Practical Course
Foundation level course ensuring knowledge and understanding of the
following: The Law regarding the treatment of animals; health and safety;
risk assessment; introduction to anatomy and physiology; canine behaviour
and welfare; the major senses. There is a strong practical element emphasising
the correct application of Swedish massage techniques. The course includes
modules for home study and practical case study compilation.
LEVEL
II CANINE MASSAGE CERTIFICATE
3 Day Course
Intermediate level course demonstrating a broader range of competences,
knowledge and understanding, extending previously learnt techniques. We extend
previous learnt practical skills to develop pre and post event massage techniques,
active and passive stretching exercises, evaluation of movement, further anatomy
& physiology, assesment of lameness and injuries, post operative care
and rehabilitation, specific conditions and MET techniques. The course includes
some modules for home study and practical case study compilation.
LEVEL III CANINE MASSAGE
DIPLOMA
2 day course
Advanced level diploma course.
Learners are encouraged to develop autonomous, analytical and critical abilities to progress to becoming an independent canine massage therapist working closely with veterinarians. Content includes: treating specific conditions, awareness of veterinary diagnostic techniques, setting up and running a business. Home study modules, practical case studies, diet and nutrition,
LEVEL III CANINE MASSAGE
EXAM
2 day course (Practical & theory exams)
This includes full revision session on day 1, looking at past exam papers and practical revision. Day 2 Exams both practical assesment and written exam paper.
ENTRANCE CRITERIA
- Students must be over 18 years of age
- Canine students must have sound knowledge of dog care and handling: i.e. canine behaviourist, previous/current work in kennels, grooming facility or veterinary nursing background, dog walker, pet sitter, agility competitor, etc., for a minimum of three years. (Evidence of the above will be required in written form)
- Students under 21 years should hold 4 GCSE passes (one in English) or provide proof of an equivalent educational standard.

EQUINE
SHIATSU THERAPY DIPLOMA
|
Shiatsu is a Japanese word meaning finger pressure, is a sister modality to acupuncture and works along the same principle that stimulation of certain points on and inside the body will have a positive effect on the body’s ability to heal itself. The course teaches the learner about this energy work and its remarkable effects on horses.
This consists of three levels which must be completed within two years of commencement:

I EQUINE SHIATSU THERAPY CERTIFICATE
3 day course & home study
Foundation level ensuring knowledge and understanding of the following:
The Law, practical application of basic shiatsu routine, shiatsu definitions,
evolution, 'holism' and meridian work. The course includes some modules
for home study and case studies.
LEVEL
II EQUINE SHIATSU THERAPY CERTIFICATE
3 day course & home study
Intermediate level course demonstrating a broader range of competences,
knowledge and understanding, extending previously learnt techniques. We
identify the fourteen classical meridians, point locations, anatomy and
physiology, pre and post ride treatments. The course also includes some
modules for home study and case studies.
LEVEL
III EQUINE SHIATSU THERAPY DIPLOMA
3 day
course, home study & exam
Advanced level diploma course.
Advanced level course where learners are encouraged to develop autonomous, analytical and critical abilities to progress to becoming an independent equine shiatsu therapist. The course involves the treatment of specific conditions, anatomy and physiology, dealing with pain and new injuries, business start up, ethics and professionalism. Assignments and practical exam.

INTRODUCTION
TO CANINE MASSAGE (FOR HOME USE ONLY)
1 Day Workshop
This is a workshop designed to equip the learner with the necessary knowledge
to correctly apply Swedish massage treatment to their own pet - with veterinary
approval. We also identify the canine skeletal and muscular systems, correct
handling, health and safety procedures. These workshops are held nationwide.

ANIMAL
HEALING WORKSHOP
1 Day Workshop
A workshop to gently mobilise the healing powers within the body itself.
We learn how to tap into the divine life force energy which is then channelled
from the healer to the receiver (animal), to wherever it is most needed.
We take a look into animal behaviour and communication and how useful
this is when applying healing to a variety of animals.
A very empowering,
uplifting day.
